Biofilms: A Hidden Threat to Global Health

Introduction

In our ongoing battle against infectious diseases, there’s a lesser-known threat that poses a serious risk to our well-being: biofilms. These slimy communities of microorganisms have the power to cause trouble in various places, like hospitals and factories. In this article, we’ll explore the impact of biofilms on human health and the challenges they present to healthcare systems worldwide.

Understanding Biofilms

Biofilms are complex structures made up of groups of microorganisms, like bacteria, fungi, and algae. They form a layer that sticks to surfaces, such as floors, medical devices or pipes, and helps these microorganisms grow and multiply. The tricky part is that biofilms have a protective shield that makes it difficult for antibiotics, cleaning agents, and our immune system to get rid of them.

The Health Risks of Biofilms – Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs):

Biofilms are a leading cause of infections, affecting millions of patients worldwide. When biofilms form on surfaces, they provide a safe place for bacteria to multiply, leading to persistent infections that are hard to treat. These infections increase the chances of people becoming ill, healthcare costs, and in serious cases, can even be life-threatening.

Ineffective VS effective methods

Conventional cleaners typically include soaps. The purpose of these conventional cleaning liquids to reduce the surface tension, making the dirt soluble in water. So when you use regular cleaning liquid, it mixes with the attached dirt and spreads over a large pool of water. Additionally, the soap (along with the attached dirt) adheres to the surface, requiring you to rinse the surface with water after cleaning. Even after rinsing, traces of soap (and dirt) may remain on the surface. Using an excessive amount of these conventional cleaning agents can result in method errors. Moreover, the use of soap contributes to the presence of a biofilm on floors and surfaces. Soaps leave a sticky film on floors and surfaces, which attracts dirt.

In contrast, using the Wet2go Ready Mop eliminates these risks. After cleaning, the surfaces are left spotless and streak-free. The Wet2go Ready Mop does not contain soap; it only consists of conserved water.

Using the Wet2go Ready mop helps to prevent the further buildup of biofilm. The cleaning liquid in Wet2go Ready is 100% biodegradable and leaves no residue. When you use the Wet2go Ready mop, the microorganisms, bacteria, and biofilm are mechanically removed and thrown away. Each time you use these mops, the biofilm becomes thinner and thinner. Initially, if you want to remove the entire biofilm, you will need to use the mop multiple times. However, once the biofilm is removed and you continue to use this product, the biofilm will stay away. As a result, after using this product for a while, floors will regain their original color.

Our advice

It is evident that the use of conventional cleaners, which typically contain soaps, poses several drawbacks. However, there is an alternative. The Wet2go Ready Mop offers a solution that eliminates these risks. By choosing a cleaner like the Wet2go Ready Mop, we can maintain cleanliness while minimizing the negative impacts of conventional cleaning methods. It’s time to embrace more effective and environmentally friendly solutions for a cleaner and healthier environment.
