Hygienic floor cleaning through dry mopping

Keeping surfaces and floors clean is crucial for many companies and organisations. Even though the traditional and most common cleaning method remains wet mopping, both research and the Dutch RIVM both suggest that with the combination of firstly dry mopping and consequently wet cleaning the best cleaning results can be achieved.

At least 60% of dirt found on floors and surfaces is loose dust & dirt. Dust arises everywhere, day in day out. Whether in a hospital or in the office: there’s no escape from it. Moreover, dust contains the largest share of bacteria compared to other types of dirt, although it seems a harmless substance, it can actually be very dangerous to human health. Dust contains the largest share of bacteria’s and dust is a breeding ground for the growth of bacteria and may even contain dangerous viruses and a diversity of toxic chemicals. Therefore, removing dust from floors and surfaces is very critical, especially in sensitive environments such as patient rooms and clean rooms.

Bacteria require warm temperatures and moisture to grow, two factors which are both created by traditional wet mopping. It is therefore that research shows that wet cleaning can actually enhance the growth and expansion of micro-organisms such as MRSA. In areas and buildings where dry cleaning is conducted before wet mopping, a rather low MRSA infection rate has been measures, whereas in areas in which this practice is not applied a higher MRSA infection rate has been recorded.

The cleaning method you choose should be aligned with the type of surface you choose to conduct the dry cleaning on. When cleaning carpet or textile floors, a vacuum cleaner is most suitable. It can however be difficult to use electronic cleaning tools in many public areas or in sensitive areas such as hospitals. Also, electronic cleaning tools can cause cross contamination, as this tool goes from one area to the other, and thus can spread the bacteria. Exactly this same effect can be caused by using traditional textile floor cloths, which may contain dangerous contaminants, even after rinsing or laundering, and as a result lead to the spread of bacteria rather than its removal.

Innovative dry mopping solutions

At Flash we offer a range of innovative dry cleaning and dry mopping solutions. Ideal for hygiene critical surfaces and areas where machine cleaning is not an option. Our dust mops and floor wipes are designed to be disposed after use, in order to reduce the risk of cross contamination to zero percent.

Economy floor wipe

Single-use economy floor wipe excellent for professional dry cleaning of even and closed floors. Each wipe is intended to clean the floor in one room or area such as a patient room. These floor wipes are an ideal solution for sectors or institutions where cross-contamination prevention, hygiene, timepressure and effectivity are important factors. The cloths can be used for healthcare institutions, building care and food and non-food chain stores, for example hospitals, dental practices, supermarkets and stores. The economy floor wipes are especially suited for hospital environments, where sweeping is not allowed due to dust raising.

Electrostatic dust mop 3D

The Triple-D electrostatic floor wipes are designed with a unique wave structure, which guarantees an ideal pressure distribution on rough floors and a maximum dust absorption capacity. These electrostatic cloths are super strong and robust, and is an excellent alternative to the Forsage cloths. The electrostatic dust mop 3D is also known as “Swiffer mop” in the B2C market. The electrostatic cloths charge which is caused by the mechanical movement causes of the cloth dust to attract to the wipe, like a magnet. Because the electro-static dust cloths are not impregnated, there is zero percent risk on leaving residues on surfaces or hands.
