“We are open to innovations as long as it doesn’t change anything”.
Because our mission at Flash is setting standards in cleaning, we question the status quo, and so we hear this quite often.
Why is it that some people are queuing up for more than a day in front of the Apple store to buy the newest expensive iPhone? And at the same time, people in the cleaning business are still cleaning with a textile mop or wipe, that creates and spreads dirt rather than removes it?
When we introduce our innovations, like for example the WET2GO mop to our customers there are two possible responses:
- They are enthusiastic and would like to know more about the benefits.
- They start asking about the price or other potential negative impacts before they have even heard about the product and the benefits.
If we zoom in on customers with type 2. This is what we call the holding back mechanism. Is this because the product is really too expensive? No. Is it because they are so worried about other potential negative impacts? Also no. Most of the time, this is because these customers are not so open towards Innovation.
Today, almost every company claims to be Innovative. In our opinion you can best test one’s openness for innovation through asking the following questions:
- Are you willing to change and take a risk?
- Are you prepared to let go?
- Are you willing to discover the unknown?
- Are you looking at the long run benefit rather than the quick win?
If you answer all the questions with ‘yes’, you can call yourself an early innovator. Then we have designed our game changing innovation especially for you. We would like to invite you personally to our stand nr 02.211 at the Interclean between 10th – 13th of May in Amsterdam.
